Nikolai Schirmer is a professional skier, filmmaker, and storyteller from Tromsø, Norway, known for pushing the boundaries of ski mountaineering in the Arctic. With a background in law and a mind for narrative, he blends physical performance with critical reflection on the environment and our role in it.
Through award-winning films and breathtaking lines on YouTube, Nikolai has introduced global audiences to the raw beauty—and danger—of skiing in avalanche terrain. He uses his platform to advocate for safety, sustainability, and a deeper connection with the mountains.

Wānaka Mountain Guides is proudly locally owned and operated by certified New Zealand mountain guides and offers personalised mountain adventures throughout the Southern Alps / Kā Tiritiri o te Moana. This means that all aspects our guiding services are managed by guides with direct experience delivering all the trips and courses that we offer. We utilise a small team of local, established guides and commit to operating sustainably and regeneratively to look after our people, communities, and mountain playgrounds for the future.
Our home is Wānaka is in the Southern Lakes region of New Zealand’s South Island / Te Waipounamu. The region is surrounded by mountains and is a year-round hub for all outdoor activities, including rock climbing, trekking, mountain biking, and skiing. The Wānaka and Hāwea lakes cater for kite surfing, paddle boarding, and kayaking and its tributary rivers and streams provide opportunities for pack rafting and world-class canyoning.
The town is the gateway to the valleys and peaks of Mount Aspiring National Park. A few hours drive north provides access to either the eastern or western glaciers and peaks of Westland and Aoraki / Mount Cook National Parks and to the south lies Fiordland National Park.

Claudine is a backcountry ski guide, avalanche technician, and APSI Level 2 instructor with experience guiding across Japan, Canada, and Australia. With a strong foundation in avalanche safety, snow science, and client-focused adventure, she’s worked in roles ranging from ski patrol and field observation to coaching national-level athletes and starring in media campaigns for Perisher Resort.
Whether leading guests through deep powder, collecting data for avalanche forecasts, or chasing first tracks at sunrise, she brings energy, expertise, and a deep love for the mountains to everything she does.

Marcin Pośpiech is a freeride skier with one foot in Zillertal, Austria, the other in the Tatra Mountains, and his sights set on backcountry terrain across the globe, including British Columbia and beyond.
But behind every big line is a deep dive into terrain, snowpack, and safety. As Marcin puts it, “Maybe it’s time to show people what freeride planning really looks like—from the kitchen table, with maps open and forecasts loaded.” His mission aligns perfectly with Skida: making smart, safe decision-making a visible part of the ski culture.

Roger Dou is a certified mountain guide based in the Pyrenees, with over six years of experience in ski touring and climbing. He specializes in small, personal trips that focus on building trust, skills, and a shared love for the mountains.

Based in Trentino, Italy, Irene lives in one of Europe’s most beautiful ski touring regions—and takes full advantage of it. A passionate ski tourer and mountain traveler, she explores new routes across regions and countries, always ready to chat about snow, safety, and stoke with fellow enthusiasts she meets along the way.
Her broad network and love for sharing the sport make her a perfect ambassador for Skida. As she puts it: “Skida is the first app that truly answers most of my needs. By day, Jason is a software engineer in Salt Lake City. By snow day, he’s a certified Level 2 snowboard instructor chasing powder in Utah’s Wasatch Range. With just a couple of touring seasons under his belt, Jason brings a fresh, curious energy to the backcountry, along with a deep respect for safety and smart decision-making.

Riley is a mechanical engineering student from Christchurch, New Zealand. Although he grew up skiing, it was at university he started exploring deeper into the mountains. First bootpacking chutes, then ski touring and climbing followed, all in the rugged playground of the Southern Alps.
As a part of a vibrant community of young mountain explorers, he advocates for sharing avalanche education and calculated decision making in the backcountry.

Cosmin Andron is an IFMGA/IVBV Mountain & Ski Guide based in Chamonix with decades of guiding across the Alps, the Carpathians, New Zealand, Africa, South America, Tibet and the Himalaya. A former philosophy lecturer turned full-time guide, he’s recognized for calm, thoughtful decision-making and clear communication that puts guests at ease from the first briefing to the final turns. Each season, Cosmin leads ski-touring courses and winter-safety workshops with a strong focus on avalanche awareness, terrain management and conservative group ratios. His resume spans major ascents and firsts, reflecting deep experience in complex mountain environments.
We chose Cosmin as a Skida Pro Ambassador because his safety-first ethos mirrors our mission: help skiers make smarter decisions and get home for dinner. Originally from France, Romain has called Northern Norway home since 2019, when he made the move north in search of a different pace of life. Since then, he has explored vast areas above the Arctic Circle on skis, developing a deep connection to the terrain and the community.
In 2025, Romain founded PurplePeaks.no, a guiding and education initiative focused on avalanche safety and ski touring courses for both beginners and experienced backcountry riders. Today, he is based between Harstad and Lyngen, where he continues to share his knowledge and passion for safe, mindful mountain travel.
Tom Jarman first learned to ski on wooden skis with spring bindings—some say his technique still reflects those early days! What hasn’t changed is his deep love for the mountains and sharing great days out in good snow.
A passionate advocate for inclusive, all-mountain skiing, Tom supports both volunteer-led and guided adventures, always with a focus on safety and fun. He runs a Facebook group for Ski Club of Great Britain members and is an active contributor to online communities like Snowheads.
As a Skida ambassador, Tom brings experience, enthusiasm, and a lifelong commitment to helping others enjoy the mountains safely.
