Bjarte Olsen

Bjarte Olsen

Bjarte is the visionary behind Skida, leading the company with a passion for innovation and excellence.

Bjarte brings over two decades of diverse industry experience to Skida. His background spans energy, finance, and technology, allowing him to identify and leverage opportunities across various sectors. Bjarte has led innovative projects and creating digital services for end users. His strong expertise in IT and digitalization, combined with his leadership skills, ensures that Skida remains at the forefront of innovation and customer satisfaction. Bjarte’s entrepreneurial spirit and strategic vision are key drivers of Skida’s growth and success.

In the serene coastal town of Lillesand, southern Norway, where the sea whispers tales of yore, Bjarte Olsen grew up with a heart yearning for the thrill of skiing. Yet, the warm winters of his hometown offered no such pleasure. His quest for education took him to Denmark, a land equally devoid of snowy slopes. Upon his return to Norway, the desire to ski burned brighter within him, but the challenge of finding the perfect slope, coupled with the lack of accessible avalanche bulletins and weather information, loomed large.

Undeterred, Bjarte envisioned Skida, a digital haven for ski enthusiasts. He imagined a service that would effortlessly blend comprehensive slope data, weather forecasts, and safety updates into a user-friendly platform. In 2023, with the backing of private investors who shared his vision, the support of Innovation Norway, and Norsk Forskningsråd, Bjarte’s dream began to take shape. The project, fueled by passion and innovation, was set in motion.

As the months passed, Skida evolved, nurtured by the incubation programs of Gründer Academy and The Factory Sportstech Academy. These institutions provided not just funding, but also mentorship and a community of like-minded pioneers. The team grew, a blend of seasoned experts and fresh talent, all united by a common goal—to revolutionize the skiing experience.

The journey was not without its trials. Challenges in technology, design, and user experience testing pushed the team to their limits. Yet, with each obstacle, they learned and adapted, driven by the collective spirit of innovation. The community of future users, too, played a pivotal role, offering feedback and encouragement through every iteration of Skida.

As Easter 2024 approached, anticipation hung in the air like the first snowfall. Skida was ready. The launch was a symphony of code and human aspiration, a digital platform that was more than just a service—it was a gateway to the slopes that Bjarte had once longed for. It was an instant success, embraced by skiers who, like Bjarte, had sought the perfect winter adventure.

Today, Skida stands as a testament to the power of a dream and the relentless pursuit of that dream. It is a beacon for those who dare to innovate, to challenge the status quo, and to bring forth solutions that resonate with the needs of the many. As Skida expands to new markets, it carries with it the spirit of its coastal origins, the resilience of its founder, and the promise of endless winters filled with the joy of skiing. Bjarte Olsen, once a boy who gazed out at a ski-less sea, now looks upon a world connected by the love of the slopes, brought closer together by the marvel that is Skida.
